Nigeria records 10 new positive case of COVID19

10 new persons have been confirmed positive to the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria. The Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) said three of the new cases are in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja while the remaining seven are in Lagos State. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 22. A statement by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, said: “All 10 new cases are Nigerian nationals; 9 (nine) of them have travel history to the Canada, France, Netherlands, Spain and United Kingdom. They returned to the country in the past 1 (one) week; the 10th case is a close contact of a previously confirmed case. “The 3 cases in the FCT are being treated at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada while the 7 new cases in Lagos are being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba. Schools across Nigeria to shut dow n Due to the recent outbreak of the deadly disease corona virus, (Popularly known as covid19), The government of 9 states of northern Nigeria issue statement to shut down all schools activities,as a result to curtail the spread of the disease. The states include Kano katsina,kebbi,jigawa Kaduna,Niger, zamfara sokoto and kwara The closure will commence on 23 march 2020. May God save us from this deadly disease.

Asuu! will call of strike this week students have to be patient

Professor Abiodun Ogunyemi who came in the company of the immediate predecessor, Professor Fagge and other serving officials of the academic body said that the leadership cannot unilaterally call off the strike. He said that the leadership would have to consult with the structures and membership of ASUU in all branches nationwide before the strike could be called off, however promising next week, this statement he made in the meeting held with the government representative last week. He said that the strike was not a fresh one, recalling that the federal government has failed to honour the agreements of equipping the universities it entered with it in 2009. On the IPPIS, Ogunyemi said that it was not possible for ASUU to join, saying that it would impede scholastic researches and image of the Nigerian universities both home and abroad.
